Healthy Winter Fruits

Winter is the season for cranberries. We have cranberries all year round, but winter is the time to get them fresh on the table.

Many cranberries are water-harvested and it makes cranberries contain greater concentrations of anthocyanins. With full of vitamin, whole cranberries fight against cold, cancer and inflammation.

A cup of cranberries contain 22% of daily need of vitamin C and 18.4% of daily need of fiber, but it is only 47 calories. Winter time is easy for many people to gain weight and fatigue. So cranberry is a perfect item in your grocery shopping list.

You can consume cranberries as a cup of juice or as a cranberry tart. But in order to get a better nutrition of cranberries, it is good to have it as a whole with salad or whichever way you want to have them fresh.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits include orange, lemon, lime, and citron. They are loaded with full of vitamin C which helps prevent winter cold. Only one orange or a half cup of lemon provides almost daily use of vitamin C. Oranges have vitamin B that helps keep the heart healthy and a good source of fiber and potassium.

Citron, "rough-skinned" lemon, is even a better source of vitamin C. It contains three times more vitamins than lemon. It is not easy to get fresh citron in US, but you can find various kinds of citron teas at Asian markets.
