What do Mountain Dew and "The Dark Knight Rises" have in common with racing? Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s No. 88 Chevrolet has received a dark makeover, courtesy of Mountain Dew and "Dark Knight" fans.

PRNewswire reports that fans visited to vote for the new paint scheme on Earnhardt's No. 88 Chevy hood. The DEW, "Dark Knight" paint scheme can be seen when Earnhardt races in the June 17 Sprint Cup at the Michigan International Speedway.

Earnhardt's new "Bat Mobile" will feature the Bat Shield on the hood, and Batman and villain Bane along the sides.

"Dew and 'Dark Knight' fans have spoken, and it's pretty cool that the paint scheme they picked is the one I helped create," reports Earnhardt saying. "Now that the winning design has been selected, I can't wait to see how fans will react to the car on the track in Michigan."

Fans had four designs to choose from, "each capturing a different element featured in the third and final installment of Chritopher Nolan's Batman trilogy."

"We aren't totally shocked that the DEW Crew chose the scheme with two lead characters as the winning Mountain Dew "Dark Knight"- inspired design for Dale's car," Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew, Brett O'Brien commented. "I think we speak for fans everywhere when we say, aside from the Tumbler, we can't think of a cooler set of wheels."

The unveiling of the paint scheme on Friday is in anticipation for the July 20 opening of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures "The Dark Knight Rises."

Mountain Dew isn't stopping at Earnhardt's No. 88 Chevrolet to promote the new action packed movie. Mid-June Mountain Dew fans can try for a limited time the soft drink brands "Dark Knight" inspired Mtn Dew Dark Berry. The DEW product comes in a 16-oz can featuring a bat symbol that turns a "distinctive green color of DEW when chilled."
