We think it's fitting that the 2012 Emmy Nominations was as kind to Lena Dunham's "Girls" as it was to food. This is a new era of television that celebrates both the kind of drama about a girl that eats cupcakes in the bathtub and the kind of docudrama about the making of that cupcake.

It's no surprise that Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations garnered four Emmy nominations. Bourdain is a total charmer whose jet-setting adventures show his audience that how people eat says more about how they live than just about anything could. As such, we're giving him nothing but congratulations for making the finals in "Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming," "Outstanding Cinematography for Nonfiction Programming," "Outstanding Non-Fiction Series," and "Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming." As always, we're ever curious for another country to make a No Reservations-style show in which someone comes to America to eat!

Perhaps Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is exactly that, but for its hypercritical, albeit necessary, thesis. He's showing young Americans the kind of bright approach to eating that he's been championing in his home country for the better portion of his career. And though he's met with resistance on both sides of the pond, we're happy that he's been nominated for "Outstanding Reality Program."

And Padma Lakshmi, how we adore your beautifully staid approach to hosting one of our favorite reality shows. Top Chef has been going on for what seems like a decade now, and unlike other long-running Bravo reality shows, this souffle shows no signs of collapsing anytime soon. Congratulations on your three well-deserved Emmys. Let's see how long you can keep it up!
