Even if you can't understand chinese, chances are you're fluent in awesome.

Take a look at that video for a foolproof approach to separating an egg yolk from the egg white that won't have you nervously cracking an egg shell in half and having you toss the egg white back and forth until you have a clear shot at the yolk, which is the method I'd been using until the wizardry in that video changed my life.

If you're going to be making our recipe for the best fish and chips you'll ever have, then this technique's about to come in handy really soon.

-Crack an egg into a bowl, making sure that you don't break the yolk during this phase.

-Apply pressure to an empty plastic bottle that still has some spring to it to squeeze out the air, as demonstrated in the video.

-FoodNRecipe Protip: Look for a plastic water bottle that's harder, as most of the brands we use in America (like Poland Spring) stay caved in when you squeeze them. We like to use an empty, rinsed bottle of alo brand Aloe Vera juice, especially because it means we get to drink a bottle of alo brand Aloe Vera juice.

-Hold the empty plastic bottle right up to the egg yolk, then remove the pressure you've been applying to the water bottle. This should create a suction that scoops up the egg yolk into nozzle of the bottle.

-From here, you can squeeze it out into the other bowl.

As with everything, practice makes perfect, so don't worry if you don't get this right the first time. Once you get this right twice in a row, you know exactly how to do it, and looking at recipes that call for egg separation will be a total breeze. You'll be making souffles with the best of them in no time.
