If you're looking for a little hair of the dog, look no further than White Dog Whiskey, an old-timey tonic-looking bottle of brew distilled and bottled by House Spirits Distillery in Portland, Oregon.

For those of you unfamiliar with House Spirits Distillery, they're the homes who bring us alcohol that evokes the "echoes of years gone by," all the while reminding us that the greatest, drunkest minds of times-past reveled in their dreams of their future. Check out their bottle of their most widely distributed (read: has made it to the East Coast) spirit, their Aviation Gin. A shot of that stuff, and you'll know why Amelia Earhart got so lost.

Their bottle of White Dog Whiskey doesn't have anything in the way of a logo, allowing the aesthetic to come from its printing. The message sent by that bit of design is a simple one: this is a straightforward, perfect bottle of whiskey with little in the way of frills.

And that's exactly the way that whiskey drinkers like it, although some may be put off by the clear color. Its flavor, however, is a touch more recognizable, with its most prominent notes coming from 100% malted barley "aged" in a barrel for (hand-to-God) only three hours.

The drink's finish lasts for long after the booze travels down your throat, so hopefully you're not doing shots of this good stuff. It has a dry heat to it, too, and a smokiness that comes from a spice whose name is on the tip of our tongue. We hesitate to say that it reminds us of a chipotle burn, but it does.

Walk, don't run, to their nearest distributor around you to find yourself a bottle. Here's a list of everyone who carries it here!
