When most people think about Miami, Florida (which is easy to do, especially in the New England winter), they think about swimsuits, beaches, and glass skyscrapers. But if you're not thinking vegan cookies, then you're not getting the whole Miami experience.

Om Nom Nom Cookies, a boutique vegan cookie company situated out of the sunniest of U.S. cities, wants to take their cookies to the next level-- although with flavors like Orange-Zested Chocolate Chip and Spicy Mexican Snickerdoodle, it's hard to imagine how awe-inspiring that next level would be.

And if you don't think a cookie can be awe-inspiring, it's obvious that you haven't sunk your teeth into their Ultimate Peanut Butter cookie-- or maybe you're just grumpy.

With your help, they'll be able to churn out so much more of their extensively tested, thoroughly approved animal-product-free darlings.

We reached out to Om Nom Nom to talk about baking some serious cookies, and why it's important to eat meals free of animal products. Here's what they had to say.

Warning: if you're an omnivore with an open-mind, you may find yourself compulsively buying every flavor.

FoodNRecipe's Anthony Smith: Can you tell me a little bit about your culinary background?

Om Nom Nom Cookies' Anthea Ponsetti: Yes! I attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I graduated with honors from their Culinary program. I have worked in the F&B industry for over ten years. The last eight of which I have taught culinary classes to pre -school and elementary aged students. I also ran healthy lunch programs at two Montessori schools in Miami, FL and have since decided to branch out on my own with Om Nom Nom Cookies as of just over a year ago.

AS: Why is eating vegan so important, and why is it more relevant today than it has ever been?

AP: Embracing a Vegan lifestyle is important due to the smaller footprint left on our environment. Once involvement occurs, a new array of adjacencies opens up to the individual whereby health, community, diet, local, awareness, consciousness, and just general well being become center and core. As globalization becomes norm, the relevancy passes from being merely a trend to becoming a concrete need.

AS: What makes your cookies stand out from other vegan cookies?

AP: I am a Chef first and foremost and due to that I like to consume foods that taste good if not amazing. I have developed these recipes after becoming Vegan and realizing that most commercially produced Vegan baked products do not particularly taste good.

All Om Nom Nom Cookies have my personal stamp of approval. You've got to taste it to believe it!

AS: What do you say to people who claim that vegan alternatives to standard dairy-filled baking techniques just don't taste as good?

AP: Try an Om Nom Nom Cookie and get back to me...!

AS: Is there a dream cookie flavor that you hope of one day veganizing?

AP: I absolutely love NYC, their quintessential cookie being the black and white. I am working diligently to veganize it's buttery cookie texture and flavor. Mmmm...

AS: How have you been advertising your Kickstarter?

AP: We have been involved with all social media outlets. Ideally, your readers would add themselves to our very own newsletter (hint hint). They may via our website omnomnomcookies.com. See you there!!!
